Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s nomination as the vice presidential running mate of John McCain launched Palin and her family into worldwide renown. As people seek to learn more about Palin, a recurring question emerges: What is Palin’s record as an administrator, and more particularly, how did she meet the challenge of balancing the interests of the people of Alaska against those of Alaska’s major oil and gas producing companies?
Sarah takes on Big Oil by Kay Cashman and Kristen Nelson delivers the story of Palin’s record in dealing with the oil companies as governor of Alaska. This book is a must read for those who seek to understand Palin’s qualifications for national leadership.

Very interesting reading. The book focuses on the gas pipeline, not on Governor Palin. In fact a large portion of the book is about the previous governors inept handling of the same situation. Governor Palin succeed where he failed miserably.
This book gave me a different perspective on what enormous challenges Governor Palin faced in accomplishing so much good for Alaskans, while corrupt politicians and greedy oil companies hounded her every step.
This book was well worth the read, if you are interested in the challenges that Alaska faced in bringing natural gas to America's lower 48.
The publisher of "Sarah takes on Big Oil" is giving purchasers a free two-year online subscription to Petroleum News, a weekly oil and gas newspaper based in Anchorage, Alaska, if you sign up before Feb. 1, 2009, or before 7,500 copies are sold. They just started this promotion, so only a few hundred copies have been sold.
