These are the times that tax men's souls. Unless, that is, you're an Obama administration appointee and opt out - or try to.
Labor Secretary-designate Hilda Solis is the latest Cabinet-level honcho to fall afoul of the tax collector; whether she wriggles off the hook is a matter of the usual high drama inside the Beltway - but the source of great anger and distress elsewhere.
This is worrisome, for reasons that only tangentially relate to President Obama.
As corny as it sounds, most Americans consider paying taxes to be an acceptable obligation of citizenship.
Obama's Tax Rogues Gallery seriously undermines that notion.

* Former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle ponied up $120,000 in back taxes to save his nomination as secretary of health and human services. He lost the gig anyway - but not before ... Continues here...
