House members boot their own office budgets!

HOUSE TO RAISE OFFICE BUDGETS

WASHINGTON - House members will vote this week to substantially boost their own office budgets, even as President Obama has frozen the salaries of senior White House staffers.
The House Administration Committee has issued memos announcing the unusually large increase, averaging about $90,000 per House member in 2009, although that boost won't be official until Congress clears spending legislation for this year.
The provision, which will bring the average member's office budget to nearly $1.5 million this year, will be tucked into a massive appropriations bill that is scheduled for consideration this week.
The planned increase is three times the boost Congress got at the beginning of 2008.
