Obama adviser paid $5.2 million from hedge fund: report
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Lawrence Summers, a top economic adviser to President Barack Obama, was paid about $5.2 million in compensation from hedge fund D.E. Shaw during the past year, the Wall Street Journal said on its web site on Friday.
Officials from D.E. Shaw were not immediately available for comment.
Summers was also paid "hundreds of thousands of dollars" in speaking fees from major Wall Street firms and financial institutions, the newspaper said, quoting a White House financial disclosure form.
The firms included JP Morgan, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers, the newspaper said.
Summers also received significant income from Harvard University and from investments, the newspaper said.
