Before Gov. Sarah Palin could celebrate Alaskan history with Auburn today, she learned about the Finger Lakes' role in some other history, including her own.
With a small entourage of family members, aides and security Friday, the former vice presidential candidate toured Harriet Tubman's home in Auburn, then drove to Seneca Falls to visit the Women's Rights Historic Park and the National Women's Hall of Fame.
On Fall Street in Seneca Falls, Norma Grant, of Port Byron, met Palin outside the beauty parlor where she had just finished having her hair done.
"Run! Please, run!" Grant told Palin. "I was hoping you and John (McCain) would make it. Run again."
