Biden announces recovery cash for cops’ jobs
Vice President Joe Biden today announced nearly $29 million in recovery funds to hire or rehire 131 law enforcement officers in Massachusetts.
The funds, which were awarded to 13 municipal police departments, are part of $1 billion in grants being handed out nationwide to provide 100 percent of the approved salary and benefits for 1,046 officers for three years.
“We were very happy with the numbers we got,” said Lawrence Police Chief John J. Romero. “We’re going to use it for retention purposes.”
