Mia Love leads incumbent Rep. Jim Matheson (D-Utah) by double digits
in the race to represent Utah’s newly drawn 4th congressional district,
according to a new poll.
Love,
the mayor of Saratoga Springs, is ahead of Matheson 52-40 percent in a
Salt Lake Tribune poll released overnight. The two candidates have been
locked in a hotly contested and expensive contest that comes with a price tag of at least $10 million. Earlier polls indicated that the race looked to be a nail-biter.
But in the latest survey, Matheson — a six-term
congressman — managed to secure crossover support from only 9 percent
of Republicans in the deep-red state. The newspaper said that Matheson’s
internal numbers showed the race was much closer. (Continues)
