Obama's approval rating falls significantly in Ohio

Obama's approval rating in the Buckeye State dropped to 49 percent, the lowest of any swing state, according to a poll released Tuesday by Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn.

President Barack Obama's approval rating in the Buckeye State - one of the key bellwethers for national politics - dropped to 49 percent, the lowest of any swing state, according to a poll released Tuesday by Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn.
Obama, who lost Ohio's Democratic primary to Hillary Rodham Clinton but topped Republican John McCain in November's general election, earned a 62 percent approval rating in the university's May survey.
Statewide Democratic officeholders also saw their approval ratings shrink.
U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown's dropped 11 percentage points to 41 percent since the May survey; Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher's shrank 10 points to 39 percent; Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner's slid 7 points to 38 percent. The poll did not ask voters about Gov. Ted Strickland, whose approval rating slid 11 percentage points in a poll published last month (continues...)
