Clicking ‘Like’ on Palin’s Use of Facebook

It seems that Facebook users understand what many a political journalist has come to know: Sarah Palin is quite adept at employing social media.

In a recently released report from Facebook, the former Alaska governor was one of several politicians praised by site users for their work this year on the social media giant. Representative Paul D. Ryan,  Republican of Wisconsin, and Senator Sherrod Brown, Democrat of Ohio, were also among those who received plaudits from Facebook fans of government, Congress and American politics.

For their part, social media experts heaped praise upon three prominent Republicans – Senator Scott P. Brown of Massachusetts; Marco Rubio, the soon-to-be senator from Florida; and Tim Pawlenty, the outgoing governor of Minnesota – for their use of Facebook. The armed services – especially the Navy – also got compliments for their use of the site.

During the recent midterm cycle, Ms. Palin frequently took to Facebook, often to endorse or talk up her preferred candidates. In the process, she was often able to bypass interacting with some of the more traditional news media outlets. (Full article at NYT)
